Would you buy this?

I saw a little nifty travel case for mineral make up lovers from Bare Escentuals that's basically a compact that fits a tiny buffing brush and a closed cap with a sifter to store your mineral makeup for touch-ups throughout the day. It seems like a neat idea considering how messy mineral makeup can be when it's jumping around in your purse all day.

So for $28 would you buy it? How about in general, if it wasn't $28?

For those who like to travel with petite purses, Bare Escentuals® created a smaller version of their popular Flawless Face Case. Inside this portable compact, you'll find a refillable storage area with a flip top that when open acts as a surface to swirl and tap bareMinerals®. This secure top ensures your bareMinerals® will stay neatly in place when tossed about in your purse or gym bag. Also included is a built-in mirror and one of their most beloved brushes, the new Compact Buki Brush, nestled in its own perfect resting place. This no-spill, no-fuss compact represents the ultimate in modern convenience for the gal on-the-go.

  1. I would definitely order this, especially since it is so difficult to carry the BE products with you in your purse without spilling everything. Thanks for the info!!

  2. Even though it is compact, it still seems pretty bulky to me. I don't think I have the patience to take it out of my purse, take the cap off the sifter and yeahhhhh too much work! I just want something to grab & go especially if I'm on the go.

  3. It IS a good idea, but I simply wouldn't spend $28 on an empty plastic container, no matter how convenient it made things.

I carry around my Benefit pressed Get Even blotting powder, and sometimes it breaks (it did in my bag yesterday) so I closed the compact and wrapped it in paper to keep it from falling out and wasting it. With loose powder you just need a jar you know won't come open.

Not to mention that packing a jar of powder, mirror, and a brush into a big rectangle compact like that I think would take up MORE space in my bag.

  5. When BE first came out, they used to offer the travel case with the half moon brush for free with the starter kit or for $25 if you buy a la carte. I think that one is better than this kit which is too bulky and expensive.

  6. I don't use Bare Escentuals but I'd buy it, plus I always needed a good place to put my kabuki!

  7. With a price tag no, for free sure lol What's the measurements exactly? The picture makes it look huge and bulky. I like the EM puff jar and mini SK retractable for touch ups.

  8. I don't think that this would make application any less messy. The bottom line is that mineral makeup does tend to go all over the place and isn't the sort of thing that one can reapply throughout the day. I might just be particularly clumsy, but I find that I even manage to make a mess when applying it at home ;).

  10. I used this when I used mineral makeup! :]

  11. hmm...
    i mean it's cute,
but for $28? i can live without it, lol. and i'm lazy...i don't like to spend more then 60 seconds on touch ups....it'd take me a minute and a half just to get the lid off...get some product out, blablabla. i'll stick with my studio fix powder :D

  12. I don't think I'd get this even if it was cheaper b/c it looks too bulky and like too much work. I like the mmu compact that I have, but I don't really like the sponge it comes with. If anything, I'd prefer to carry around a mini kabuki.

  13. i wanted to get that but here its like maybe 35 cad> :S way too much for me

  17. i have this! i used to carry it around, but yes, it is quite big but the mirror is really nice and large too!

however, it makes it really easy to wear mineral foundation so i use it every day when i put on my makeup!

  18. my coworker got one of those from her cousin who works for BE. she showed it to me, and it's still messy. :0(

  20. way overpriced for some plastic and animal hair. its cute tho. i wus not buy it.plusi dont use minerAl make up

  21. So I have this and honestly never use it! It was just sooo much bigger and bulkier than I was expecting, plus it got so messy! If there was a way to clover the sifter holes then I probably would've traveled with this more, but since there isn't every time I'd pop open the mineral makeup compartment there would be powder everywhere and of course a giant powder cloud.

I did love the brush that this came with though!

  22. No thank you! What a rip off, I will just use my EDM puff jar.

  23. Maybe if it was $5! haha $28 is too much and it doesn't even look like it's worth 28!

  24. This is kinda pricey, but it's so nifty!

    I wish MAC would make mini-compacts based on skin tone, e.g. compact with NC30 foundation, powder, 2 blushes, 3 e/s, 2 l/s and 1 l/g!

  25. $28 is too much for this! I bought Pur Minerals (which I love way more than BE) and it comes in compact form and I just use a mini buki with it...great for carrying along!

  26. Yah -- no matter how big my purse is... I can't be convinced to buy this item, add more bulk to my bag.

It's a great idea, but not for the $$

    ReplyDelete
  27. i got a free one (not like that exactly) from BE but the brush it comes with is that half moon one.
& it's wayyy smaller than that one..it's actually a real compact haha

    ReplyDelete
  28. I would probably buy this ...depends on people's review on this :D

  29. $28???? No, thanks. If it's the same baby buki as their free giveaway one, it hurts. I'd rather just take an empty 5gr jar and tote it around, if need be. That's what I do when traveling. Jen - try putting a piece of scotch tape over the sifter holes.

  30. I actually bought this to save space in my hospital bag when I had my sonl. It's kind of awkward to use because, being a BE user, I'm used to getting the makeup from the cover; so pretty much you have to turn the whole thing upside down and shake out the make up just to get a little bit out. It IS really bulky and I might as well just bring my regular BE makeup with me instead... which I wound up doing.

  31. I thought it was cute but Im not a huge fane having loose powders in my bag.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I honestly wouldn't buy it because 1.) it's a bit pricey
2.) I am not a big fan of loose powder except for MUFE Mat Loose powder
3.) it looks bulky and I already carry so much crap in my makeup bag. lol

  33. i wanted one at first b4 but i figured out around it. its a bit bulky for my already flowing makeup kit. :)

  34. i purchased this when i first started using bareminerals waaay back, and i've never used it! it's bulky to put in my makeup bag! i'd prefer using everyday minerals' puff jars and putting my bareminals in it! haha

    ReplyDelete
  35. This is a great idea, price sucks tho!

    :]

  36. For those of you who say you prefer your puff jar, should I be carrying something like this?
