A: To be honest, after a long day, my eyeliner eventually does the same thing, but that's because after awhile I'll rub my eyes forgetting I have makeup on! LOL. I use Indelible Gel Eyeliner in "Black Out" from MadMinerals.org, I mentioned this before in my blog but thought id bring it back to the surface since I've been getting a lot of questions about eyeliners lately. It seriously is compared to MAC's Fluidline in "Blacktrack". They are both very similar, of course MAC has a larger jar and is actually a tad bit creamier than the Indelible Gel Eyeliner. Also, the Indelible Gel Eyeliner can dry out but can easily be "brought to life" with eyeliner sealant which is also available on MadMinerals.org, or I use my Homemade Mixing Medium to seal my liner so it stays on and is smudge free.
For you gals that are into the traditional pencil or liquid eyeliner, eyeliner smudges because your lids are producing OIL in which your lid is no longer holding onto your eyeliner like it should.
Try powdering your lids first, concentrating on your lashline and lower lashline as the powder will absorb the oil and lasting longer, I really like Revlon's Colorstay Pencil and Liquid Eyeliners, for those of you who are not allergic to MAC's Liquidlast, that one REALLY stays on! (My eyes were irritated when I tried it).
Umm...when you dampen your brush with the sealant or a mixing medium then use that brush to pick up some gel eyeliner would that ruin the texture of it?
ReplyDeleteAnd also, I think this might be a stupid question but I rather ask than risk ruining my pigments.... I was wondering when you use the mixing medium to or any type of liquid/fluid to dampen the brush to foil your pigments, do you just dip the brush into the pot/jar? Wouldn't that somehow get some moisture into your pigments and ruin it?
Hi Lynnie- It wouldn't ruin the texture of it because it's gel, it's like when your hair is wet and you put gel on your hair, it doesn't do anything it's still a gel like consistency.
ReplyDeleteNo you don't necessarily have to dip your brush with sealant into your jar of pigments, like shown in this pic, you can add a drop to the lid and pour a little of your pigment on a separate lid and do it that way, or add a drop of sealant to your brush and dip it in your pigments. It does not ruin it because the pigments itself are powdery so they just stick to the brush without affecting everything else.
Hi Vanessa! Just thought I'd share my trick on preventing my gel liner from drying. I keep it in the refrigerator when not in use. That's it, lol. I'm pretty lazy so that works for me! :D
ReplyDeleteBtw, love your eyeliner color collection - so much variety!
I use an angled brush to apply my fluidline.. is it easier to apply the fluidline with that kind of "flat brush?"
ReplyDeleteThanks Vanessa! :D
I would buy all of those just because of the colors and the untouched look they have in the jars. Collector's habit at worse, lol.
ReplyDeleteHey Vanessa,
ReplyDeleteI recently discovered your blog and have been reading your past entries for a few weeks now. I just wanted to know that I LOVE your blog =) I decided to try out the Indelible Eyeliner after reading your numerous posts about it, and I LOVE it!
I've had the whole smudging issue with every other eyeliner I've used before, but with the Indelible Eyeliner, I've experienced little to NO smudging!
Thanks, and keep the great posts coming, girl!
Hey Vanessa, great informative post. I find that most of the smudging I get from eyeliner is definitely from my eyelids overproducing oils. Gel eyeliners are my solution too, although I've only tried MAC's Fluidlines. Is there a smudgeproof pencil eyeliner you can recommend though? Sometimes I'm too lazy to reach deal with gel eyeliners. Plus I like the softer look of pencils moreso than gel.
ReplyDeleteSome girls have been asking about this in a forum I go to. I'm linking this for them. Hope you don't mind :) Thanks for posting this!
ReplyDeleteHey Vanessa, it's Lynn. I'm just checking your blog since I can't sleep right now. I was wondering if you've tried benefit's she laq I use it to seal my shadows and eyeliner. It really makes the colors last even after a night of sweating at the club. Just be sure not to get it in your eyes-it burns.
ReplyDeletehey,
ReplyDeletei love these liners too! would just like to add that i read in makeupalley that even though the mac fluidline pot is larger in size, the cavity is smaller and it actually holds less product that the indelible gel liner. it's an illusion!
hey honey bunches! good tip...you know i love those revlon colorstay liners though! i've been meaning to use my gel liners...i think i'm going to pair them with my shelaq!
ReplyDeleteHey Vanessa i really enjoy your blog. I would love to know if these gel eyeliners can be used as a base to put eyeshadows on. If they cannot be used as eyeshadow bases, would you be able to give me any reccomendations to some paint pots that are Non-MAC.
ReplyDeleteThank-You
