Muko Muko Dress!

My heart goes out to the family of the murder-suicide of 6 people that were killed this past weekend in Porter Ranch, they are a few houses down from me in the same gated community, and it's sad that he took the life of his family along with his own- an "honor" killing is what they label it as. There were news vans and helicopters near where I live, and it's sad something like this happened. I could never hurt my own children, and it's sad that these innocent kids lost their lives at the hands of their own father.

I finally got my Muko Muko Dress from Ling! Thank you SOOOO much! I got it on Friday and it's so cute! I actually wore it to a friend's bday dinner at Dave & Busters; it can be worn 2 ways, as a skirt, or as a tube top dress paired with a belt.

I also wore it with my new boots since it was raining that day and wore it with a tunic I got from Forever21. (Don't mind my white legs, lol)

The birthday girl:

And Miss Tracy was there too!

And the BF and I ate at "The Hat", I LOVE their wet fries which reminds me of poutine minus the cheese...hmm gravy and fries!

Tara was kind enough to send me some ketchup chips and flakies! Thank you so much Tara! I am sending you some "thank you" gifts your way! :)

  9. Cute dress! I actually did that to some of my skirts when the whole stepford wive dresses started coming into fashion. I couldn't splurge so I just got some belts ^_^ If they were too short, I just wore tights underneath.

  11. Your dress is really cute and I think you've styled it better (belt, boots, tunic) better than the advertisement.

I just read the article on the murder-suicide and it's horrible. I hope you don't mind me correcting you but I don't think this was an honor killing. According to the artice, in the suicide note that the guy left for the police, he states that of the two options he felt he had (killing himself vs. killing himself and the whole family), he believed that the latter would be the honorable thing to do. In his wharped head he probably thought that his wife and kids would not be able to handle the grief if he killed only himself. This goes to show that no matter how seemingly stable someone may appear, when pushed beyond their limits, horrific things can happen. Clearly he was not a stable person.

  12. Preeti- I didn't claim it was an honor killing I was just quoting what the police officers were saying based on the suicide note, he took the life of his family and himself because he felt "it was the most honorable thing to do" and hence they think he felt like he was a failure to his family being out of work for so many months, and figured killing his family would be the best way out....

  13. I just finished reading the whole article and that's really sad and unfortunate. It's kinda scary what the economy is doing to people, but still no reason to kill your family because of a tight snag. You would think a smart man wouldn't do such a dumb thing like that. But that's trippy how it's seriously down the block from you. Too bad for the family who owns the house too... prolly won't be able to rent that house anymore or at least might have a hard time because of the murder incident (haunted!). But that's so sad for that girl who had a bright future ahead of her being in business program in UCLA. I think what the dad did was more selfish than an "honorable" thing to do.

Anyway, on a lighter note... wtf is up with me on that first picture LOL. GROSS. ahahhahaha. what a fun night though. weeeeeeee.

  17. I love the dress and tunic super cute/chic!! I think it's funny how you're the tallest one among your friends in the pics..that's how I am..Sometimes I stick out like a sore thumb so I try to kind of bend my legs because i'm taller than majority of my gfs and noone ever thinks I'm tall until they see me in person, but seriously i don't think 5'4ish is that tall I guess under filipno/ asian standards it is though! :] And lastly, I loooove the Hat!! Their sandwiches are delish and those fries are super good!!!

  18. Cute outfit! I just checked out their shop, and they have some really nice clothes. I totally forgot the Hat was in the area. We tried to go to Norm's, but we didn't know it shut down! We ended up going to this Chinese place, and some cop pulled us over in the parking lot b/c the boys crossed double solid lines when turning left into the lot!

  19. I'm good!! And seriously about flats! All i ever wear are flats, sandals, or my rainbows. Those are the only things I can ever really wear esp. since my bf is like barely taller than me. Maybe an inch or 2? So I can't ever wear heels! You're lucky Romeo is taller!! I always feel like a giant :[

I live in the South Bay area, but I have friends who go to Fullerton and my cousins live in Chino Hills and I'm always everywhere. I force my bf to go to far places for food! Have you gone to Sonics? Their drinks are yum, but food is so so! So we'll go to the Hat for food and drinks at Sonics!

  23. The dress is cute :) I had no idea poutine is a Canadian thing (is it?) and I've lived here my whole life. I know ketchup is Canadian though. Which seems really strange to me. But I only found out when my cousin from St.Louis was like, wth are ketchup chips? haha.

  25. This was not an honor killing, in the traditional sense. Honor killings are usually when a parent kills their children because the child had "disgraced" the family and the parent feels that they are forced to "uphold" the honor of the family. The typical example would be when a parent kills their daughter for wanting to divorce her abusive husband. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honor_killing

In this situation, the father killed his children because he thought it was the "honorable" thing to do. He didnt kill his children because they dishonored him, rather he killed them because he had some bizarre, demented idea of what he should do to protect his children. Im not excusing his behavior or saying its morally better than an honor killing, but all that I am saying is that its different. Just because the guy was of indian/south asian descent and killed his child, that doesnt mean it automatically falls into the category of an "honor killing."
