Christmas in September

I love coming home to packages! I get so giddy as if I don't know what's inside each box, LOL. I got my gorgeous Too Faced package from their nice sale they had, their anti-feathering lip pencil and their sample size Shadow Insurance (since I have a TON of UDPP left). I also got a couple of things from Alice Cosmetics.com, the eyelash guard (I got it mainly to prevent mineral eyeshadow fallout), and their microfiber cleansing cloth (similar to the Jane Iredale cleansing cloth) and you only need water to remove your makeup, and it's also re-usable and washable. Lastly, I got my "Walk to Remember" book, I know it's been YEARS since the movie came out, which by the way is my ALL-TIME favorite movie, why? Because I am such a sap!

I love this movie and I can watch it over and over again; so I decided to buy the book since I never read it. I read "The Notebook" and I loved the book as much as I loved the movie, so I thought this would be just as good. Could you believe I barely got it today and I am ALREADY finished with the book?!!! I can't believe I finished reading the book considering I was watching Gossip Girls, One Tree Hill, and The Hills...lol.

Tutorial: How to apply the Mehron Aqua Color Palettes

note of the day: If you do NOT like a video on YouTube (as I see xolovinyoo LOVES making her rounds on beauty blogs) then don't be stupid and watch it or subscribe to them because then you are just the retard that complains and complains yet continuously entertains yourself by watching the very thing you are complaining about sweets. It's like saying you are allergic to avocados yet you are the dumbass that keeps asking for it on your salad. :)

I think of Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girls as I say this. Oddly enough, I LOVE her. I think we all need to have a bit of her personality to set some people straight...makes me want to smack my tongue ALL DAY LONG! By the way did anyone watch tonight's episode??? The duchess sleeping with her step-son was....GROSS.

I really want to get the iPod nano's, according to the BF I don't NEED one because I have an iPhone, but I want them separate; I don't want to have to drain the battery on my phone just because im listening to my music. Turns out my sister wants one for her birthday which is coming up in a couple weeks, and I might end up buying it for myself- uhhh I mean for HER! LOL.

I finally finalized my trip to go see the fambam and the sissies around Christmas, a week with my mom should be interesting, she is quite a character! But the BF is tagging along since they love him more than me anyway, so at least I have time playing "make-over" on my two sisters.

FOTD: Bling Bandit (Using Mehron Pastel Palette)

I couldn't wait to use the Mehron palettes so since Halloween is around the corner I thought id have some fun and just play around with them and try to get a feel for them and the consistency. Many of you asked how to use these so I will be doing a tutorial on that soon.

I wanted to make an eye mask because I loved getting my face painted when I was a kid and thought it would give me an opportunity to use the palette to its full potential. I first outlined my mask with NYX's Jumbo Eye Pencil in "Milk", then filled it in with the "Teal" color in the pastel palette. I then outlined it again with the dark purple color. The "bling gems" are actually cell phone bling self-adhesive stickers and I used it to outline the mask as well as make it "pop" by putting it over the purple outline. I then applied my foundation, blush, and lip color.

It took me almost 2 hours to do this look because I had to peel off every little backing on the gems, but nonetheless it was worth it and I had a lot of fun doing it. You can continuously add more of the teal color as you go along in case it gets "streaky", I used a taklon brush, but next time I am going to try to use a sponge instead. It takes awhile getting the "right amount" of the cream, but it's fun to play with! I also did a video!

Product Review: Amuse Diamond Palette

This diamond makeup kit by Amuse is such a mega palette, probably the biggest I have ever owned! This palette contains 48 soft and smooth, almost metallic, eye-popping eye shadows, 4 chunky glitter eye shadows and 1 light pink matte blush. It also comes with two separate eye shadow applicators for the eye shadows, the blush and the glitter eye shadows. This diamond makeup kit truly lives up to its name because it's just filled with tons of shimmer and glitter.

The Amuse Diamond Makeup Kit personally isn't a palette I would enjoy because at the age of 26, I have gotten over the glitter phase, however some of the eye shadows are perfect because they are not glittery, just the perfect shimmer, while some of the eye shadows are sheer. The one thing I noticed about Amuse eye shadows is that they have a very strong fragrance to their eye shadows, and I immediately noticed this even before I took the palette out of the box. It's not a horrible smell or anything, just unusual for makeup in general to smell like that. The eye shadows itself have a tiny flower pattern on them and I felt like this was a palette for little girls with the way it was made, because the colors are so delicate. I think it's definitely a palette that fits more of my sister's taste who is seventeen years old; since she doesn't need a lot of coverage or makeup in general, these eye shadow colors are perfect for her age because they aren't too sheer, but not too pigmented either to where it would be too much. The eye shadows itself are really soft to the touch and you get a lot of color in one swipe. They almost have a “metallic-look” to it.

The palette itself has tiny round dome windows on the cover above each eye shadow so that you can see the color in the palette. As much as I love palettes because they are somewhat of a space saver, this palette is too large for my liking and therefore it's not one I can really carry on board if I were to travel, or a palette that I can just put in my purse or makeup bag. But for the gals that do love glitter and shimmer, this is a nice palette to just keep on your dresser or vanity because there are really lots of colors to choose from and it's $14 on CherryCulture.com

Haul & Swatches: Mehron Aqua Paradise Palettes in Pastel & Tropical

I was so happy to finally receive my Mehron Paradise Palettes today (and a Ben Nye Lumiere e/s in "Turquiose")! They are water-activated moist cakes that go on super pigmented once dry and really have remarkable staying power. They are easily removed with soap and water, but even there was still a bit on me, so it stays on! I saw xsparkage do a video on these and I was intrigued. :)

I can't wait to do a look with these! You can get them from Bubba Sikes or from Stage Supply.

So how do these differ from the MUFE (Make Up For Ever) Flash Color Pots and MAC Paint Pots?

The MUFE Flash Color Pots are pigmented as well, but the consistency is that of a cream, so it tends to crease and you must use a lot of eyeshadow on top control it from creasing, but even then it comes off easily and doesn't stay on.
The MAC Paint Pots are awesome, I love them and they have become a staple in my makeup bag, they too dry to a nice finish making it a decent base (for ME anyway) and since they come in different colors it can enhance the look of your eyeshadows. However, they do not have a wide range of colors (such as a bright purple or a yellow).
The Mehron Palettes come in bright and basic eye-catching colors, very pigmented and vibrant, dries to a nice finish and stays on. Makes a great base to bring out the colors of eyeshadows, also great for face painting since they are true in color, made with aloe and chamomile and other ingredients that are safe to use on the face.

Tutorial: 60's Makeup

The pic above is a technique in the makeup world called "cutting the crease". It can change the way your eyelid looks, giving it more depth and shape. This technique of course was popular in the 60's, giving a more animated look.

I had a request from Camilla to do just the basic technique for an eye look from the 60's; a look that Twiggy wore best.

Here is a super quick tut I did on re-creating a 60's look, but shaded the outer-V for a modern spin. I only did one eye because once again, my allergies was flaring up (I can't wait till this season is over), so you can even see some redness in my eyes because of it, I apologize!

Adding scotch tape to parts of your eye does wonders when it comes to makeup, especially artsy makeup for photoshoots, it just give a nice straight line where you need it and ensures an "even eyeshadow" application.








Apply your eyeliner, thick is better for a 60's look. I also applied liquid eyeliner (Revlon Colorstay Liquid Eyeliner) on my lower lashline and angled it to give the eye some shape. Then apply your falsies. As you can see the clear cut line the scotch tape gave...

EOTD: Butterfly Eyes

I know Nabi had a contest recently on doing a fotd using a butterfly as inspiration, but making it wearable, so even though I didn't enter her contest I decided to do a look anyway, using a butterfly that was in a bouquet of fake flowers I have in my room.
