Out of all the looks I have done, the "gradient eye" is my favorite one, simply because it's so versatile and when you play with different colors, the results are amazing. I am not going to spend too much time with a step by step tutorial simply because it's the SAME as my first tutorial (the mermaid look) the only difference is that you are using 2 colors instead of 3. Also for the gal that asked me about how I did the MAC Color Story, same concept, it's actually a less-toned version of my "Fushia and Black Fusion" look.
***The key is to BLEND, BLEND, BLEND. Invest in a good blending brush and practice! I get a lot of emails asking me EXACTLY how to achieve this and it's not really something I can help you with because you either know how to do it, or you don't. I can post 100 pics on how to blend and it still won't help you unless you practice!
Here is what I used:
Eyes:
MAC Paint in "Chiaroscuro"
Revlon's Eyeshadow in "White Whisper"
MAC eyeshadow in "Vex" (used tons of this beautiful color to give that nice sultry shimmery look)
Milani Eyeshadow in "Storm" (for you MAC addicts, it's similar to "Black Tied", just a dark shimmery/glittery eyeshadow)
Eyeliner is: Revlon's Liquid Eyeliner in Blackest Black (pre gel eyeliner!)
Lips:
Primed
MAC's 3D Lipglass in "Lightswitch"
Step 1:
After priming your lids, I applied MAC Paint in Chiaroscuro as my base, Revlon's White Whisper as my overall base, as well as MAC's Vex.
Step 2:
With a small or angled shading brush, take some of your dark black eyeshadow (or whatever color you want, but be sure it's DARKER than your highlight and overall base) and apply it from the OUTER corner of the eye to the MIDDLE of the LID.
[The eyeshadow looks grey in this pic due to the flash but its a dark black].
To get THIS RESULT:
Step 3:
Then line your eyes and add mascara (after mineral foundation application).
WITHOUT FLASH:
And tada!
Vanessa - how do you like the eyeshadows from nixie cosmetics? I am thinking of buying some of their shadows. Does the nixie shadow pans fit into a mac palette? thanks!
