Storage & Collection (Picture Heavy!)

I had a few readers ask me about storage and how I store my makeup and other junk, as well as a few who wanted to know what's in my makeup arsenal...so I combined a bit of the two...I was too lazy to take a pic of every single thing because it's just a massive amount of junk I have accumulated over a period of time, so there are a few things missing (i.e. makeup brushes, moisturizers, paint pots, etc.) I have since added quite a few necessary brushes to my collection since my last post on brushes, so I'll do another post soon on the brushes I have as well as its uses.

I know some of you are wondering whether I actually use all of this stuff, and I actually do, of course not all at once, but I do switch off every now and then, sometimes I just wanna use MAC eyeshadows, MAC eyeshadows with mineral eyeshadows, or just mineral eyeshadows, I pretty much rotate among all my blushes so I use those frequently and the same goes for lipsticks and lipglosses. Of course there's what I call "The Forgotten" which is just some random things I DID use and just forgot about it, and think i'll use again. Of course I throw some stuff out that I know I will never use again or have surpassed its shelf life. I mostly use my paint pots, eyeshadows, and mineral cosmetics.

Most of the items are also things that were either given to me by friends as gifts, or products that were sent to me to test out and write a review. Some items are brand new and are either going to be on my online store (which WILL be the same URL as this site, it's my blog and the store is a link within my blog), or items I am holding for a future contest. The BF says he is "always surrounded by makeup" lol because everywhere you turn at our place- is makeup! And pretty much anything I can fit things in serves as my makeup storage, haha.

As you can see, I like everything organized, so everything is labeled accordingly (you can find a labeler pretty much anywhere, officedepot, office max, staples, target, k-mart and more), this helps me find things easier and keep everything together...the plastic sterilite drawers I got from Wal-Mart, I find they have a better selection than any other place. **Pics taken with Canon SD750**

Posh Brushes

I got these Posh Brushes awhile back (also from K-Mart), it's a cute travel set, comes in a nice zip up pouch with double-ended brushes: angled eyeshadow brush and smudge brush, eyeliner brush and eyebrow brush, conceal and touch-up(eyeshadow brush), and a powder and blush brush. The entire set was $12.99 (the Essence of Beauty version at CVS is $10).

They are super soft too and it's always in my makeup bag, some of you might ask if there is any noticeable difference between these brushes and EoB and they are pretty much the same, I think POSH brushes are a bit softer, not scratchy at all.

1. Donate to some of my favorite charities including breast cancer research (in memory of my great grandma), to schools, so that kids can have the proper tools to learn; such as better books that aren’t falling apart (I had crappy looking books in school), more computers, PE equipment, etc.

2. Get more homeless shelters setup, there are so many homeless people here in LA, sleeping under dirty, wet and cold freeway overpasses or bus stops…just want a place where they can at least have some decent sleep.

3. Buy a nice comfy house that has one room for all my makeup, a dressing room that has a huge wall that’s a mirror that’s similar to the closet in “Clueless” where the computer picks and matches your outfit, LOL that would be awesome! Then I would have a separate section for my shoes, hats, accessories, just a huge room that looks like a store!

4. Give my parents and grandparents a few million so that they don’t have to work anymore and can just now enjoy life, get my sister a car, get the youngest sister a little something (since she is the baby she feels that she too, should get a gift, LOL).

5. Travel around the world, check out the dead sea (I always thought that was fascinating), see Stonehedge, the Eiffel Tower, go to Australia and actually see a Kangaroo! LOL, go to Japan and enjoy the night life and technology, see what the Bermuda Triangle is really all about….there are just so many places I wanna visit!

I was strolling down K-Mart (I actually like the K-Mart by my house because no one is ever in that store, lol) and came across the Sally Hansen Airbrush Makeup Spray which i've seen before and passed by so many times (before I started this blog!), so I decided to try it out since it was only $7! I have to admit, I had my doubts since I don't really like Sally Hansen products other than her nail products, I was honestly expecting to return it, but I love it!

PROS: It comes in a small sized can which is great for traveling, but don't let the size fool you, because this lasts awhile. It gives AMAZING coverage and I personally think is a good dupe of MAC's StudioMist Foundation, I have sensitive skin and I did NOT break out from this spray at all so that's always a plus. The foundation itself was a bit light for me (creamy natural), but you can always use it as a good base to cover any blemishes or acne scars and then just lightly put your mineral foundation over it to really give your skin a nice sexy airbrushed look! And it lasted pretty much all day for me. It also has SPF. It's only $7 and I think it's fairly easy to find at some drugstores (not all drugstores will have it so you can go to the Sally Hansen site and do a store locater or call your neigborhood store in advance).

CONS: They only have 3 choices of colors which sucks because we all know that isn't enough! Which is why I gave it 4 out of 5! (No color(primer), Creamy Natural, Beach Beige, and Nude), also if you have certain colored undertones it may look "orangey" on some people like if you have pink undertones, so test accordingly. Be careful not to put TOO much or else it may look cakey or give you a melted look at the end of the day, you only need a little bit!

Overall? I really liked this considering it gives amazing coverage and it's only $7 which is great for us gals who are on a budget, or for those who travel and just want something quick and easy without all the mess. I would definitely buy this again if they had more colors to choose from, but for now it's nice as a base in addition to your mineral foundation.

Method:
1. Spray some of the product on a large cap such as that of your mineral foundation jar. Spraying it directly on your face can be messy as well as giving you uneven coverage.

2. Take your buffer brush or flat top brush (I used the MAC #180 brush), and lightly dip and swirl your brush into the product.

3. Apply to your face as you would with your mineral foundation.





Good coverage eh?

EOTD and Outfit of the Day

A reader said I should post more pictures of what I wear, so i'll try (if I can remember). I wouldn't consider myself a fashionista or a stylist by any means, but I do have some background as a visual merchandiser. Working at Forever 21 years ago allowed me to learn how to put pieces and accessories together, especially when you have ladies coming in asking YOU to help them come up with an outfit or to match something, you learn a lot. I was the person that dressed up the mannequins, and did "color stories" for the store (like when you walk into a store and some of the walls are color coordinating), I worked exclusively with the District Manager who had magazine cut outs of what's in style, and I enjoyed it mainly because it allowed me to be creative and play with colors.

Usually I am wearing jeans, my chucks, and a shirt to work since it's just work, but on the weekends I like to dress up a bit and be a little more girly. I barely started getting into wearing dresses like a year ago because I hate my legs, and I hate showing skin, lol. But because the weather here in Cali has been so frikkin' hot, I like wearing flowy, light dresses.

Here is what I wore this last weekend, I bought it from WetSeal since I have their Club Card discount thing...the one thing I love about WetSeal (and other stores) is their return policy, I hate Forever 21 (ironic isn't it?) because their return policy sucks. You can only get a store credit, and if you lost your receipt, your screwed. The BELT is from H&M, which I bought when I was in New York, I also bought it in black because it's too cute! If you gals are ever looking for good belts, H&M, WetSeal, Windsor, and Charlotte Russe have awesome belts at a good price. H&M is my favorite place to get belts, they have really nice quality belts for cheap!

Silk Naturals Kiss Bliss Demi Glosses, Camellia Rose Skin Soothing Primer, & Flirt! Bronzer

I finally got my Camellia Rose Skin Soothing Primer (Version 2) from Jen from Camellia-Rose.com. If you are new to reading my blog, you can read my product review on her primer, it's a really good primer and smells so nice. I know some of you might ask what the difference is between this primer and the Monistat primer, personally they both work the same, but obvious differences are that the Camellia-Rose primer is all natural and smells heavenly. It's more creamier than the Monistat primer, but they both have "Dimethicone" which a common polymer among makeup primers including Smashbox Photo Finish Primer. She also sent me a sample of her "Bye Bye Zit" which I have yet to try!



I have an obsession with lippies, that my collection is growing non-stop, but I can't help it! With the Silk Naturals Kiss Bliss Demi Glosses, it's hard NOT to buy these! They come on like a dream, so smooth and moisturizing, and giving your luscious lips pigmented color. If any of you have tried the Burt's Bees Lip Shimmers, it's almost the same in terms of texture and the way it feels. My favorite color is "Divine", it's such a nice nude lippie!

I bought "Capricious" (which is supposedly a dupe of MAC's "Utterly Frivolous"), "Grace", a nice rosy pink, and "Divine" a nude lippie with a touch of pink.

I had a coupon for Kohl's, so I took a gander to see what they have since Kohl's ALWAYS has good sales, and ended up getting Flirt! Cosmetics Bronzing Powder in "Golden Minx", which makes a great contour powder as well as giving that subtle summer glow. I love it because it has little shimmer, and I mean VERY little shimmer which I like because sometimes blushes or powders that have shimmer can be too overpowering and make you look shiny, but this had the perfect amount of shimmer.

New Hair Do!

I have some VERY observant readers who asked me if I did something new to my hair from my last fotd, and I did! I got- chunky cut BANGS! Damn you gals have a KEEN eye! :)

I never used to like bangs, I had them before when I was younger, and kept growing them out, but now I like them because they really change the shape of a face. I have the chubbiest cheeks ever (mind you I am only 115-120 lbs and 5'6") and I hate em, so bangs takes a little focus off my entire face so my cheeks don't look that fat, haha. But I like how it gives a more edgier, sophisticated, fashionista look.

As you can see, I kept my makeup pretty simple (what i've been sporting nowadays), I used Joppa Mineral Foundation in Medium Light #2 and a dash of Medium #3 both in full coverage. For the eyes I used "Femme Fi" e/s as the highlight, "Warming Trend" e/s from the Cool Heat collection all over the lid, and a mix of "Mulch" and "Shale" e/s on the outer-V and contour. Finished it up with a thin line of MAC Fluidline in "Nightfish" and a couple coats of L'Oreal's Telescopic Mascara. For the cheeks (although it's hard to see here) but I used MAC's "Flirt & Tease" with a touch of Silk Naturals "Jamie" blush. Then used Flirt! Bronzer in "Golden Minx" on the apples of my cheeks, nose, (pretty much in spots where the sun naturally hits me) to give me a subtle glow. For the lips, (it was probably washed out by the camera), but it was a nude lippie that I LOVE from Silk Naturals, their Kiss Bliss Demi Lipgloss in "Divine" (I thought of YOU Christiana when I bought it! LOL), it's a gorgeous nude color with a touch of pink which makes it a perfect nude lippie for any skintone because it actually doesn't make you look washed out! (I will do a post introducing these lippies (I bought several), as well as the Flirt! Bronzer in "Golden Minx" tonight!)



I know my hair looks lighter too, but I didn't change the color from my last "new do" post, I think after how many washings it sorta faded into a nice chestnut brown and my natural highlights are now showing through. Because of my skintone, (I think) I have to keep my color around the various shades of brown (my natural hair color is a dark brown, not black like most people think), black hair makes me look a bit pale, and I usually switch to a darker hue during the fall and winter time, but for the summer I like a medium or dark brown with some highlights. I never went too light because that washes me out and I personally think most Asian gals look better with darker hair as it brings out their features more. Of course if you are rocking colored contacts all the time you can pretty much do with any hair color, but I like being au natural sometimes just because I am lazy and can't keep up with maintenance, LOL.

My itty bitty nose doesn't hold my huge sunglasses up, lol. But I love big shades, big enough to hide my head! HAHA :(

Happy Father's Day!

I just wanna wish my dad a happy father's day! It's hard spending today with him since we live in different states...but thank goodness for emails and phone calls! My sisters and my mom took him out to dinner and I took my grandpa out to dinner who lives here in Cali.

I am a daddy's girl, not spoiled, just loved immensely! LOL. But seriously, the one thing I love about my parents, is they taught us so many things, they gave my sisters and I, a lot of "tough love" and being the eldest, I worked hard for everything I wanted so they could spend more time and money on things my sisters may need. They rarely spoiled us with material things, but spoiled us with unconditional love and support.

My dad especially sacrificed so much for us and I am forever grateful to him because he is the best dad a girl can have! He's the first guy to truly love me (awww!) and I am proud to say my middle name is derived from his name. My dad and I are so close and everyday I am thankful to have him as my dad because he is the one person I can always go to when I am down, but mostly because he puts up with his 3 super crazy daughters! My mom always wanted a boy, but dad is happy with his gals! I remember when I had my first real boyfriend, dad refused to call him that, so he kept referring him as my "friend" for the longest time! LOL. Even now that I am older and marriage is talked about he always tells me he is gonna have a heart attack. LOL. I love you dad!

He got me into photography and got me my first camera at age 3!

I am a sucker for all kinds of hair products that I am always willing to try any hair product that's new or unique. So it was no surprise I was eager to try the AVON anti-frizz capsules. My lovely neighbor Kelly who works in the office next to mine is my Avon Rep, or more like my Avon dealer! LOL, she also reads my blog, so hi Kelly!

What it claims: Tames and smoothes frizz. For straight or curly hair. 18 capsules. .58 fl. oz.

PROS: I love the tiny capsules! It's cute and easy to use, and you know how much to put since there's the right amount in each capsule, just twist off the top, squeeze on your hand, rub together, and apply! My hair felt softer and shinier, I applied it right after the shower and my hair felt so much smoother! The small jar makes it easy to store as well as travel with, and it's only $3.99!

CONS: None! I love this stuff!

Overall: If you get those annoying frizzies or flyaways or just want some subtle shine, I suggest trying this. It's only $3.99 so there's really not much to lose!
