Product Review: Spinlash

.

Like Emilee from GMM who has reviewed the Spinlash already, I am barely getting around to doing my review which was sent to me a few weeks ago from Danielle.

Product: 3 out of 5
Packaging: 4 out of 5
Practicality: 3 out of 5
Overall: 3 out of 5
Price: Around $12-$14, Target

PROS: It allows you to coat your lashes while combing it at the same time since the barrel spins in two directions (whichever button you choose, left or right is the direction the wand will spin), allowing you to also comb your lower lashes. It comes with its own mascara which is built-in the cap so you have a toothbrush holder looking tube, that way when you uncap it, there's mascara already on the wand. The wand is similar to that of L'Oreal's Telescopic Mascara or Covergirl's Lash Exact mascara.

CONS: Like all mascara's, it only lasts 3 months (90 days), or when the battery runs out, whichever comes first. It's battery-operated with a built in battery that you cannot remove, hence you have to toss it out. It's quite huge to be carrying around in your purse, and it's quite expensive considering you have to toss it out in 3 months anyway. Might as well buy a $6 or $7 mascara and call it a day!

Overall: I am glad I received this product pro bono to test out, but I wouldn't buy this on my own because there's just no use when you can achieve the same results using a good eyelash curler, mascara, and an eyelash comb. And the thought of spending $14 on something that's only going to last 3 months is crazy, I might as well spend that $14 somewhere else that WILL last me.

Comes complete with instructions:

*edit* I did not curl my eyelashes...

Here is a ghetto video I did on it, so y'all can see how it works, sorry for the scary close eye pic, lol.

i can't wait to go to vegas! i'm eyeing a few things from the mac store. can i use my pro card at a regular mac store or does it have to be a pro store? oh, nice review, by the way. i'm not totally sold on the before and after pics on the packaging, though! i'm like, "the after pic is totally false lashes." lol.

The after pic looks pretty impressive, although I agree with you on it being kind of a useless invention - it reminds me of those spinning spaghetti forks haha. Did you curl your lashes at all before using?

It spins rather slow lol I'll just do it the manual way me thinks, but your lashes came out good. Just not as good when you do it yourself though cuz some of the lashes are still pointing straight.

well duh! I had no idea you couldn't change the batteries!

I just got mine and I kinda dug it. I liked the way it worked with my MJ mascara Super glam lashes...but the battery thing blows! I didn't know 'bout that :P

I def agree bit big for carrying around but I wasn't planning on toting it anyway so that's not too bad!

great review lovie!

i think the concept of a spinning mascara wand is a good idea, but i agree that it's pretty pointless on shelling out so much money on something that'll only last for a few months.

it would be better if there was just a spinning wand itself w/o the mascara that's reusable/rechargeable and can be used with any tube of mascara you have. do u know if there's anything like that?

Thanks for reviewing! I was wondering what the heck it was...and actually it's pretty cool. I never use curlers or anything (I like to sleep in to the last possible moment haha)...so it definetely would save some time. It really did make your lashes look great!

my sister took me to a flea market in houston and i saw little bunnies and it made me think of your bunny =( the bunnies weren't as cute as yours, though. they were toooooooo big. they even had a poor dog in a tiny ass cage. i felt so bad for it!!! i wanted to buy a baby turtle, but i always hear that they die. perhaps i will just settle for some hermit crabs and decorate their shells with swarovski crystals. lol. earlier i meant to say the after pic on the packaging looks like false lashes, not your lashes. hehe. not sure if it sounded like yours are fake! but i meant the packaging =) they just look tooooooo perfect on the packaging. the concept of the mascara sounds neat but i don't know if i would buy one, especially if the battery died.

This sounds quite a lot like the Revo Styler that came out a few years ago (remember those?) for hair. I think for the money, I'd rather buy my same ole Voluminous mascara. Thanks for the review.

i think i will stick to doing my mascara the old fashioned way. i remember reading somewhere a long time ago that it's really not about the formula, it's the brush, and i agree with that to an extent. i don't really like those spikey silicone brushes, i prefer big fluffy pipe cleaner brushes like badgal and diorshow.

plus, i'd probably be the freak to ruin their eyeballs or eyelashes with that thing....

thanks for the video! i totally thought that thing was gonna spin super fast, LOL.

You know what's crazy? I completely did not realize that you couldn't change the batteries! I don't know why, but all this time, I thought that you could change batteries when it ran out, which is why $15 didn't seem that bad. But $15 for a irreplaceable mascara wand? Ick.

Wow.. It doesn't look like it works very well.. At least, just as well as a eyelash curler and normal mascara. Covergirl Lashexact is the best. =] just saying.
