Walgreens & AVON Haul

.

I think I am coming down with a cold...and that's no bueno because I leave for NY in less than a week and it would just suck to endure a cold during a trip where i'll be more susceptible to germs (i.e. the airplane). I have a weak immune system and I remain sick longer than others, so while the normal person takes 4 days or a week to recuperate, it takes me a month, if not longer. Not fun I tell you. Last time we had a show (my work), we went to NY and I was so sick and lost my voice; I wanted to reserve my energy so I didn't talk at all and went on the tea and honey regimen to soothe it out, and it was such a struggle to talk to potential clients without wanting to just pass out! So I just hope I can fight it before it gets worse...

Anyway, the BF and I had Korean BBQ last night at my favorite place called "Pine Tree", if any of you ladies live around the San Fernando Valley, you must definitely try that place out! It's on Reseda and Roscoe and it's good eats! We go there all the time and the manager knows us already, LOL.

We then went to Walgreens and I didn't haul a lot, just a couple brushes and other little things...Aileen from Shades of Hue posted recently on EcoBrushes, a set of brushes designed with the environmentally friendly in mind. The handle is made out of bamboo, and I must say their bristles are SOFT! I love them! Of course I have too many brushes so I just bought the eyeshadow shading brush which I wanna use for my mineral eyeshadows because it has that silky taklon fiber feel allowing me to apply them wet. They have a wide collection of brushes so check them out! They are available at Walgreens, Albertsons, Fred Meyer, and similar places like that...

I also got a double-ended smoky eye brush, great for blending those tight spaces and for blending all over color.

Also got a Vo5 detangler/leave-in conditioner for my locks

L'Oreal has a NEW COLLECTION that's out, the packaging is super pretty! They have new eyeshadow trios, blushes, lipsticks, and lipglosses.

Some cute Easter colored frames I got from Target for $5 each...

I also got my AVON Haul. I wanted to try their new skin smoothing powder mill, it's basically PRESSED powder that you turn into super-fine loose powder. It has a shine-absorbing formula to help minimize the appearance of fine lines, pores and wrinkles. Great for traveling so you don't make a mess all over the place. It has grates that shave the powder for you, just twist it like you would on a pepper shaker (same concept), and it becomes finely-milled powder!

I am going to try it later today, I tried it last night on my hand and was amazed at the difference!

It looks big in this picture, and it somewhat is in real life.

Plastic shaving grates that shave the pressed powder so you have loose powder...

Shavings!

My hand before, see my veins?

Look at it after! Flawless!

AVON Duo Blush (pink shimmery color):

AVON Concealer Stick in Medium at $6.00, doesn't it look like the MAC Concealer sticks??!

MAC Concealer Stick, $15.50

Using the AVON Concealer Stick (BEFORE):

AFTER:

And finally here is the Physician's Formula Tinted Moisturizer Comparison:

(BEFORE): Uneven skin tone..

AFTER (NO Primer or Overlay of foundation, just as is):

Girl, that tinted moisturizer is kinda hot. I may need to get up on that because I am in love with tinted moisturizers. And definitely gonna get hip to Avon.

Ohhh, and I'd love to see an FOTD With that L'OReal. How good are their eye shadows?

Peace, for now, my love. I hope you feel better. Dope up on the Vitamin C.

Wow Vanessa, I'm really impressed with Physician's Formula Tinted Moisturizer. I'm a tinted moisturiser gal and have been using Vichy Lumineuse for quite a while. I've been looking for other brands to try and Physician's Formula looks promising. I went to their site and unfortunately they don't ship outside of the US. :( I'm going to try and find it elsewhere online or ask my other half to look for it when he's in Boston next week.

I'm a MAC NC20/C2. What shade of this tinted moisturiser would you recommend?

Great haullliiiin'! :) Argh.... trying not make any more beauty purchases is hard... specially when I visit your page 100x a day LOL xD <3 I am intrigued by that 'shaving' powder...

Thanks for the review. Does the Physician's formula tinted moisturizer have a smell to it? I've tried many tinted moisturizers that stay quite greasy. Does this leave your face greasy as the day goes on? I see in the pictures that it's not greasy. Hope you didn't answer this in previous posts! :-)

Vanessa said...

Thanks Ms. Brittany and Sis Ren!

Lurve- You are too funny!

Anonymous- They smell nice like a normal moisturizer, and it's not greasy at all, more watered down than a normal liquid foundation, but goes on easily. And I think it stays on I usually put my mineral powder foundation over so I can't really say for sure...

I picked up the Physicians Formula Organic Pressed Powder the other day (Finally!) and was so tempted by the Tinted Moisturizer, but I have 2 tubes right now (1 of Sonia Kashuk's and 1 of e.l.f.'s), so I figure I'll use those up first. But the photo makes me regret my decision, lol!

Oh, and Walgreens has Walbourne which is a off-brand of the Airborne supplement. You just drop it into your drink (i use juice) and drink it up. It gives you extra zinc and vitamins and helps you stop the cold or at least shorten it up. I always take one before jumping on any airplanes.

Have a super trip!

Sorry to hear that you're feeling under the weather! Hope you feel better ASAP... don't forget to add lots of fresh lemon juice to your honey tea!

That TM looks pretty good! I don't usually like them because I find the coverage too sheer, but looks like Physician's Formula isn't bad at all!

Feel better soon, and enjoy your trip to NY. :)

Ooh, I like that Avon Smoothing Powder. I can't wait to hear what you think of it after trying it on. =) And I love the brushes.

The AVON powder mill looks so fun and the coverage is great too!

The L'Oreal trio looks cute too, I think I'm going to check those out soon.

Girl, you've got to stop with the beauty products - I want EVERYTHING! LOL

Anonymous said...

Arrrrrrrrrgh! The avon smoothing powder mill is no longer available on their website :( Why does avon do this? ><

Jamie said...

Oh no, I hope you feel better soon! Traveling while sick is definitely horrible. How long will you be in NYC? If you need any ideas of where to go or what to do, definitely let me know!

Great haul! Everytime you post pics, I'm always tempted to run out and get whatever you have, lol. The Avon powder mill and Physicians Formula tinted moisturizer look amazing!!! The EcoTool's pouch looks cute! Hope you'll feel better soon. I just hate being sick so much!

take airborne! i love your blog vanessa, so informative! and i love looking at your hauls. i'll have to check with my walgreens for the ecofriendly brushes. i like how the handle is bamboo. :)

The ectotools brush looks really nice! I have the detangler & I really like it.

I'm a big fan on Avon, but it's not good for my wallet because my co-worker is a rep, so I usually order whenever a catalog comes out.
That blush looks really cool!

I hope you feel better soon. I'm sick too, and my doctor told me to take those Coldeeze cough drop like things from the drugstore. Take some Emergen-C too!

that Avon powder looks pretty cool :) it's too bad I'm restricting myself from makeup, the bamboo brushes look like they'd be something nice to own as well, haha.

Hope you start feeling better soon - airborne should help when you're traveling, and I swear by Danactive - I drink one a day and I only get sick about once a year (as opposed to 3-4x a year).

i lurves the avon blush duo and i needs it now ;)

Nice haul 'nes!

love ya

Thanks ladies for all the suggestions! I gotta try tea and honey again soon!

Anonymous- I know I went on the site and sadly the milled-powder isn't there anymore, hopefully they just ran out of stock and will get more in soon!

Anonymous said...

Hi Vanessa! Thanks for the suggestion. I think I will get both 'Ivory to Fair' and 'Fair to Light' and perhaps mix them together for the summer. I'll let you know how I get on. Thanks!

Melissa Joy said...

oooh I have to try some avon products! that shaving thing looks interesting lol. & hope you feel better...I work at a pharmacy & just take airborne or generic walborne (same thing) & bring some sanitizing wipes for the airplane ride. If you're already coughing, take some cough drops (ricola is recommended).

What are the ingredients on that milled powder stuff? Is it talc and or bismuth free? Looks like a pretty neat powder.

sarahPUFFY! said...

hm, looks like Avon is emulating Smashbox with that powder. not a bad rip, either; not bad at all.

AskMeWhats said...

OMG, I have searched everywhere for the New L'Oreal Collection (eyeshadow trio). They aren't available in my local CVS yet and I have searched high and low to find ANY mention of them online. It's like they don't exist. I wanted to try them out to see what the color pay off is. Can you please do a short review on the one that you purchased. Thanks!!
